The aperture size (w) is the distance between two adjacent warp or weft wires, measured in the projected plane.

Woven wire cloth with square openings is designated by the aperture size (w) and the wire diameter (d). The wire diameter in a specification is always mesured before weaving. It may be slightly altered during the weaving process.
