Heat Treatment
The main purpose of heat treatment is to match material properties to customer requirements. This means the meshes can be shaped more easily, or the elongation values influenced. Different processes are used to achieve this, such as annealing in protective gases, solution annealing, diffusion annealing or sintering. The decisive factors for all methods are experience and the right equipment in order to avoid any negative effect on the mesh.

DKS Mesh, the original from the developer
Our diffusion annealed calendered mesh exhibits essential characteristics making it ideal for automated processes. Spörl DKS mesh is used mainly in the automotive industry and for all applications where total precision of aperture, mesh thickness and DKS advantages are required for processes.
For automated processes, it is generally required that no wires can become detached from the mesh bond, even from cut mesh edges. This is achieved using Spörl’s heat treatment techniques, unique in the world.
Alongside the potential for automated processes, DKS mesh from Spörl offers additional advantages:
- No weave shift
- Larger open surface area, ratio aperture to wire 1:4 minimum
- Widths from 1.8mm
- Mesh thickness tolerance +/- 0.003mm and less
- Particle-free in compliance with VDA 19
